History of Canada Indian The history of Canada can be traced back to about 33,000 years ago . The local MUI pedicle by Indians, Inuit and Aboriginal people, about 33,000 years ago immigrated to North America . Inuit (因纽特人) Aboriginal (土著居民) At the beginning of the 15th century , French and British navigators(航海家) explored and settled along the Atlantic coast ,looking for a route to Asia. The French set up the bases near the St. Lawrence and Great Lake, while the British set up their strong points along Hudson Bay and the Atlantic ocean. Finally they both found out a large amount of rich natural resources reserved in the vast expanse of the earth in North America. The history of Canada covers the period from the arrival of paleo-indians thousands of years ago to the present day. Canada has been inhabited for millennia by distinctive groups of Aboriginal peoples .Among whom evolved trade networks, spiritual beliefs ,and social hierarchies. Some of these civilizations had long faded by the time of the first European arrivals and have been discovered through archaeological investigations. By the 17th century, France and British had set up their permanent residence. The two countries reached parity in military strength, with an aggressive pose. France ceded nearly all of its colonies in North America to British in 1763 after the Seven Years’ war. Quebec Act 1774 In 1774,the British parliament passed the Quebec Act that confirmed the British criminal law and French civil law, ensuring that the French settlers had the freedom of language and religion. In 1791,the British government set up two administrative districts---upper Canada and lower Canada. There were reunified as the province of Canada in 1841. Upper Canada Lower Canada In 1848,the province of Canada was permitted to establish its own government, in charge of all affairs except diplomacy. In 1864,Canadian self-governing territories were born, John Macdonald became the first prime minister of Canada. It
