Speech at Chang’an Ford Automobile’s New Plant Inauguration Distinguished guests, ladies and gentlemen, Good morning! What a great pleasure it is to be here with you today. Together with my colleagues from Chang’an and Ford, I want to thank you for joining us during the inauguration of the most advanced automotive manufacturing plant in China. I would like to extend my congratulations to our colleagues at Chang’an Ford Automobile Company and the entire team of dedicated people that made today possible. In just four short years, Chang’an Ford Automobile has made phenomenal progress in delivering great market success. This is a result of the shared vision and determination of the partners. The world’s first automobile assembly line began operation at Ford’s plant over 106 years ago. And what a journey it has been since then—bringing us all the way here to celebrate this milestone today. The last century brought us many changes. As I look around at this state-of-the-art facility, and consider the dynamics and team work that made all of this possible, I know we are headed in the right direction for the next century. And it is sure to be even more astounding, more challenging and ultimately more rewarding. The pace of change will be unrelenting and we must be firm in our determination to be a company that not only delivers excellent products and services, but also strives to make the world a better place to live. Today, with our partners, this assembly plant will serve as the technology leader in quality, safety, and environmental protection here in China. We are committed to being a world leader in health and safety and protecting the environment.
