组合训练十一 八年级下册 Units 1—2 一、完形填空(2019·衢州模拟) When Jordan Reeves was eight years old ,she couldnt wait to start a new 1 class.But as she was warming up,she 2 that some of the kids were staring(盯着 看) at her.Was her dancing clothes on backward ?Had she spilled something on herself ?No !The kids were looking at her left 3 .It stops above the elbow( 肘 部) . “Ive had to deal with people staring at me my whole 4 ,” Jordan ,now thirteen ,explains. 5 Jordan sometimes feels uncomfortable when people stare ,shes proud to be different.And shes using her difference to 6 other kids with disabilities. “You can do cool things—just give it a try,” Jordan says.“You might have to do it 7 than other people ,but its worth trying.” Each year ,about 2 ,000 babies in the United States are born with limb differences,like Jordan was.That means they are 8 all or part of an arm or leg.Doctors arent sure 9 this happens. With only one hand ,Jordan can have a hard time doing certain activities, 10 tying her shoes.She sometimes uses a prosthetic( 假肢) arm to help her do things like riding her bike. Growing up ,Jordan attended camps for kids with limb differences.Then in 2015,she was invited to 11 new prosthetic arm—one that would turn her disability into a “superpower” .Jordan teamed up with designers and 12 used 3-D printer to create the prosthetic arm.Instead of paper ,the 3-D printer used plastic to create the arm.Jordan called her invention Project Unicorn.Jordans mom 13 the story of Project Unicorn online ,and it quickly spread on social media ,Jordan helped other kids with disabilities. In 2017,Jordan and her mom started an organization 14 Born Just Right to help other kids with limb differences.Theyre making it 15 for kids
