Hitec Marketing, Austria Abstract: This responds to the question "We need a ‘smarter’, approach to deliver with all emerging solutions and to find better ways to use what is already in place." In 2014 the Austrian Ministry of Innovation, Traffic and Transport selected the authors for a new urban mobility living lab – fully aware that this will have to compete with some other four lab-like operations in the Vienna metropolitan region. In Bordeaux we will share what we have learnt throughout 2015 from implementing this mechanism. We self-consciously anticipate any discussion of our early lessons learnt will cross-fertilize similar activities on a global scale and therefore are ready to share all our secrets. Even how we perceive we have managed to succeed in this highly competitive environment and this call for proposals – given that reviewers typically come from entirely different disciplines and may have rather determined viewpoints on what is relevant.
