However, history teachers of middle school and their students are thrown into dilemma on whether to focus on the knowledge of history for college entrance examinations, or on the enlightenment of the thinking of students, or some other issues. This paper aims to discuss about the difficulties faced by history teachers and their students, as well as the lessons from the difficulties under the reform of new curriculum in Chinese education from the perspective of high school history teachers and students in order to propose some suggestions for the reform.
