PAGE 19 Differences between Chinese and American Culture in Guasha Abstract With the increasing cultural exchanges and cooperation between China and America, there are more and more cultural differences. If Chinese and American cultures can be understood accurately, it will better achieve the expected results of their exchanges and cooperation. However, some people are not clear about the cultural differences between China and America. Besides, some Chinese cultures are hard to comprehend by Americans which causes conflicts easily. A film The Guasha Treatment is a good case of cultural differences between China and America. It takes Guasha as the clue to vividly portray different filial piety, family education, view of friends and so on in China and America. In order to know and distinguish the cultural differences between China and America clearly, this paper attempts to compare filial piety and family education between China and America by using the method of documentation based on The Guasha Treatment. Moreover, this paper attempts to analyze the factors that cause differences. Therefore, it may deepen peoples understanding of filial piety and family education in China and America. This paper will also make cross-cultural communication between China and America smoother. In addition, it will find that under the background of cultural globalization, different cultures should be inherited rationally, integrated and supplemented mutually so as to promote the development of cultural diversity. Keywords: cross-cultural communication, cultural differences, filial piety, family education 从《刮痧》看中美文化的差异 摘 要 随着中美两国的文化交流与合作日益增多，所体现的文化差异也越来越多，准确认识双方的文化将更好地达到合作与交流的预期效果。然而，有些人对中美的文化差异不清楚，美国人对一些中国文化并不理解，从而容易引起误会。电影《刮痧》正是中美文化差异很好的体现，这部电影以传统中医治疗法“刮痧”为线索，生动地描述了中美不同的孝文化、家庭教育、朋友观等等。 为了更清楚地了解和区分中美的文化差异，这篇论文将以《刮痧》为根据，使用资料文献法比较中美的孝文化和家庭教育，并分析造成差异的因素。因此，本文将加深人们对中美孝文化和家庭教育的理解，使两国的跨文化交流更加顺畅，同时还发现在文化全球化的背景下，应理性继承不同的文化，并相互融合和补充，从而促进文化多样性的发展。 关键词：跨文化交际；文化差异；孝文化；家庭教育 Contents Abstract Ⅰ
