PART/01 Grammar is a set of rules that define how words (or parts of words) are combined or changed to form acceptable units of meaning within a language. (Ur, 1996) Grammar is the system of rules governing the conventional arrangement and relationship of words in a sentence. (Brown, 2007) The first is that grammar has to do with how words are formed, and the second is that grammar is all about how words are combined to form sentences. The academic study of word formation is called morphology…while the study of ordering and combining words is called syntax.
