Stable Isotope Effect (SIE) and its Utilities Huiming Bao Structure: A series of 7 -8 seminars (2 hours each) prepared for Peking University, May 3 -27, 2017. This is a 1-credit hour course. The lectures are given in English mixed with some mandarin (or the other way around depending on student’s demand). Students: Junior and senior undergraduate students and graduate students from Geology, Planetary sciences, Environmental sciences, Ecology, and other fields. Textbook: None. Lecture notes will be provided by Bao. Exam: There will be a 20 -mins long close -book exam in final lecture. The exam consists of ~ 30 multiple choice questions that are mostly designed to check your conceptual understanding. After the exam, we will have each individual students to give an 8 -mins presentation. The presentation is to present a scientific problem that can be solved by using stable isotope data. Each student in the class will evaluate your presentation by providing scores (details will be given in class).
