It allows students to take control of their own learning process and become proactive in seeking knowledge and skills. College students, especially those majoring in sports and arts, require a high level of independent learning abilities to stay at the forefront of their fields, which are highly competitive and constantly evolving. However, little is known about the current level of independent learning abilities of college students majoring in sports and arts, and the factors that affect their development. Objective: The purpose of this study is to investigate the independent learning abilities of college students majoring in sports and arts, and to identify the factors that influence the development of these abilities. Research Questions: 1. What is the current level of independent learning abilities of college students majoring in sports and arts? 2. What are the factors that influence the development of independent learning abilities among college students majoring in sports and arts? 3. How can colleges and universities support the development of independent learning abilities among college students majoring in sports and arts? Methodology: This study will use a mixed-methods approach to investigate the independent learning abilities of college students majoring in sports and arts. The quantitative phase will involve a survey administered to a sample of students from different colleges and universities in China who major in sports and arts, and the data will be analyzed using descriptive statistics and inferential statistics. The qualitative phase will involve individual interviews with a subsample of students to gain a deeper understanding of their experiences and perceptions about independent learning, and the data will be analyzed using
