Module 7 Unit 1 His dog can help him Teaching Aims To introduce and practice new vocabulary related to pets and their abilities. To help students develop their reading and speaking skills by asking and answering questions about a text. To encourage students to think about the importance of pets and the different roles they can play in people’s lives. Teaching Procedures Warm-Up (10 minutes) Greet the students and ask them how they are feeling. Ask if any of them have pets and encourage them to share stories about their pets. Introduce some new vocabulary related to pets and their abilities, such as “fetch”, “roll over”, and “sit”. Presentation (10 minutes) Show a picture of the boy with his dog, and ask the students to describe what they see. Introduce the new text and read it aloud to the students, highlighting any new vocabulary or phrases. Practice (20 minutes) Ask the students to read the text in pairs and practice asking and answering questions about it. Provide a list of questions related to the text to guide their discussion. Encourage students to ask follow-up questions and share their own experiences or opinions. Extension (20 minutes) Ask the students to work in groups to create their own stories about a pet and its owner. Provide some prompts and guidelines to help the students get started. Encourage the students to use some of the new vocabulary and phrases they have learned. Wrap-Up (10 minutes) Ask the students to share their stories with the class. Summarize the key points of the lesson and ask the students to reflect on what they have learned. Remind the students to show love and care for their pets, and to be mindful of the different roles animals can play in society.
