Objective： This study intends to investigate the news coverage of the 2008 Beijing Olympics and explore the narrative of heroes constructed by Chinese media in the event. The study will explore how the news outlets constructed the narrative of heroes, the values they promoted, and the impact of these narratives on social interpretations of the event. Methods： The research methodology to be used in this study is a qualitative content analysis of the Chinese news coverage of the 2008 Beijing Olympics. The research materials will consist of newspaper and internet news articles published by major Chinese media outlets, including Xinhua News Agency, China Daily, and Peoples Daily Online. The study will analyze these news articles using narrative analysis and identify themes and patterns in the construction of hero narratives. Expected Outcomes: This study aims to contribute to the current understanding of the narrative of heroes in news coverage of the Olympics.
