suchastheMonkeyKingsinnocence,integrity,courageandwisdomandthefatuity(昏
庸)oftheJadeEmperor,accordingtoLiKeruo,oneofthefilmsscreenwriters.
Moreover,Zhangscharactersactvividly,showingtheimpactofposture,
movement,costumeandatmospherecomingfromPekingOpera.Thesettingsinthe
cartoon,suchasthepalace,lake,peachgardenandthefamousHuaguoMountainand
ShuilianCavebelongingtothemonkeys,wereinspiredbyBuddhistandTaoist
architecture.
ZhangbecameinterestedinwatchingPekingOperaperformerspainttheirfaces
