Theoverallaimofthismoduleistosupplystudentswiththeknowledgenecessarytounderstandthebasicsofphotovoltaicconversion,thecurrentstateoftechnology,howithasevolvedfromitsbeginningstothepointofactualdevelopmentandthedifferenttypesandcharacteristicsofphotovoltaicsystems.Theyshouldacquiretheskillsnecessarytoprovidethepotentialforthedevelopmentofthisenergysourceintheirhomecountriesorinothercountriesinwhichtheywillperformtheirwork,thuscontributingtotheexpansionoftheenergygeneratedbyphotovoltaicmeans.Thiswillinturnresultingreaterdiversificationofenergysources,anincreaseduseofcleanenergyand,consequently,thereductionofemissionsofgreenhousegases

Allowthestudenttounderstandthebasicprinciplesofphotovoltaicconversion,howitispossibletotransformthesunsenergyintoelectricityandthekeyelementsnecessarytoperformsuchatransformation

Toknowthemaincomponentsofstand-alonesystemsandsmallnetworks(mini-grids)photovoltaicsystems,itsapplicationsandbasicdimensioning.

Toexplainbasicprinciplesandconceptsofsolarradiationanditsinfluenceonenergyconversion.

Toknowthemaincomponentsofphotovoltaicsystemsconnectedtothegridandtoestimateandsimulatetheelectricaloutputofthesesystems.

COURSESTRUCTURE

Toachievetheproposedobjectives,themoduleisstructuredinto5mainchaptersdividedintoseveralblocks.Theymakeanoverviewofallaspectsrelatedtotheconversionofthesunsenergyintoelectricity,fromthephysicalbasestothemostcommonapplications.
