Abstract
Aslibrariansworkevolvesfromafocusontheitemsofourcollection,
librariansstrugglewiththeuncertaintyoftheirnewworkandtheirlack
ofconfidenceinplayingthesenewroles.Thispresentationdescribes
howwehaveadaptedE.Wegnerandothersideasaboutcommunities
ofpracticetoestablishaself-directed,librarianled,professional
developmentinitiativethathelpslibrariansredefinetheirworkforthe
future.Thesuccessesandfailuresoftheinitiativewillbediscussed
alongwithrecommendationsforimprovements.
