    benefitofjoiningtheCouncilasaParticipatingOrganization.

    Q.Whydidyouprovidea“summaryofchanges”tothePCIDSSpriortogeneral

    availabilityonOct.1,2008?

    A.Webelieveitisnecessarytohaveconstantcommunicationwith

    stakeholders.Whileversion1.2doesnotintroduceanynew,majorrequirements,

    wewanttoprovideasmuchguidanceaspossibleastowhathasbeenincludedin

    thisrevisionsothatorganizationswerebetterabletoprepareforanyinternal

    changestheymightneedtoundergo.

    Q.Doesthismeanthatversion1.2willputmerchantsoutofcompliancethe

    momentitisreleased?

    A.No.Whereappropriate,theCouncilwillprovideampleleadtimefor

    organizationstomakeanyneededchangestothesecuritypractices.Inaddition,an

    organizationdoesnotneedtotakeimmediateactiontoaddressanychanges.

    Instead,thosechangeswillbeaddressedduringtheorganizationsnextscheduled

    PCIDSSassessment.
