    In2008,membersofU-Theatreofembarkedonawalkthatlasted50days

    andcovered1,200kilometres-aboutthree-quartersoftheislandstotalcoastline.

    Theytrekkedsevento10hoursadayand,afteraboutamonth,whilestrolling

    throughthecityofTaitung,theystartedtonoticedifferentsoundsofnature:the

    chirpingbirds,theblowingwind,theebbandflowofthetide.

    Itwasallaboutlettinggoandreturningtothemoment.Whenwewalked,wepaid

    fullattentiontoourfeetandtoes,saysHuangChih-chun,musicdirectorof

    U-Theatre.

    Whenwefocusourselvesandunitewiththemoment,wereachastateofinner

    calmnessandemptiness,andtimedipears…Thereisnoideafromthepast,no

    projectiontothefuture,andnothingtoworryaboutinthepresent.

    ThisepicexcursionbecameasourceofinspirationforthetroupesBeyondTime,a

    multi-artsprogrammebilledasatimesjourneyincelebrationoftheawe-inspiring

    momentsinlife.

    Thespiritualpiecefusesthunderousdrumming,sacreddance,martialarts,nomad

    singingandmultimediaprojection,andwillopenthisyearsNewVisionArtsFestival

    onFridayandSaturdayattheHongKongCulturalCentreGrandTheatre.

    ComparedwithU-Theatresprevioustouringproductions-SoundoftheOcean(1998)

    andMeetingwithBodhisattva(2002)-BeyondTime,whichtookfouryearstodevelop,

    attemptstoconnectwithaudiencesmoredirectly.

    Itsaboutsearchingforpeaceofmindinoureverydaylives,saysLiuRuo-yu,

    founderandartisticdirectorofthetroupe.
