Abstract：Accordingtorelationshipbetweenthedistributionofstressandstrengthundertoothface,thecontactfatiguefailureandfatiguecrackinitiationregionofcarburizedgearwerepredictedandverified.Theresultsshowthataccordingtotherelationshipbetweenthedistributionofresidualstress,loadandhardnessoftestgear,thefatiguecrackinitiationregionisbetween0.4-0.6mmbelowtoothsurface.Thedepthofcracksourceofthefailuregearobtainedfromthecontactfatiguetestresultsis0.52mm,theresultsobtainedbythepredictionisbasicallyconsistentwiththeexperimentalresults.
