Theoriginalmeaningofthework’stitleinfactisaheritage,butwhenitwastranslatedintoChineseitgavemeanimpressionthatthetitleshowstheheroofthestoryhadGreatE*pectations.However,readingoverthebookIrealizedthatthis"GreatE*pectations"takesanironicband——itshouldbesaidthatthethemeofthisworknotonlytoldthestoryoforphanPipwhowantedtobetheidealfirst-classdisillusionment.Ifonedoesthinkso,heholdsawrongunderstandingofthegreatsignificancewhyDickenscreativethework.
