Thisarticleprovidesaconcisenarrativeoverviewoftherapidlygrowingempiricalliteratureonfinancialliteracyandfinancialeducation.Wefirstdiscussstylizedfactsonthedemographiccorrelatesoffinancialliteracy.Wenextcovertheevidenceontheeffectsoffinancialliteracyonfinancialbehaviorsandoutcomes.Finally,wereviewtheevidenceonthecausaleffectsoffinancialeducationprogramsfocusingonrandomizedcontrolledtrialevaluations.Thearticleconcludeswithperspectivesonfutureresearchprioritiesforbothfinancialliteracyandfinancialeducation.
