论 文 摘 要 英属印度的高等教育在殖民政策的影响下经历了近 200 年的发展历程。本文 以不同时期教育政策及其实施为主线，分阶段论述从 1757 年到 1947 年英属印度 高等教育的发展状况，以期为独立后印度高等教育的发展寻找本源与基础。 本文分为六个部分。 第一部分介绍了在东印度公司影响下殖民初期的印度高等教育发展状况。 第二部分阐述了殖民政府为适应其新殖民政策，以英国现代教育制度为蓝本 去改进印度教育的实践。 第三部分首先介绍殖民政府为巩固统治而在教育领域推行的一系列改革，进 而阐述了此阶段政策调整的进步性与局限性。 第四部分论述了印度民族运动兴起之时，殖民政策的调整及实施。 第五部分论述了独立前印度自主地选择发展道路，以及英国统治者推进的一 系列教育改革。 第六部分简要阐述了英属印度高等教育发展对独立后印度发展，以及对英属 非洲教育政策的影响。 关键词：英属印度，高等教育政策 ABSTRACT Higher education in British India had gone through many stages of development for almost two hundred years. The thesis describes the development of higher education from 1757 to 1947 focusing on different education policies and implementations during the main phases, with a view to find the origin and foundation in the post-independence India. The thesis consists of six parts. Part one introduces the development of Indias higher education under the influence of East India Company. Part two discusses the colonial government improved the practice of education in India to adapt to its new colonial policy, by transplanting the modern educational system from England. Part three introduces a series of reforms in the field of education by the colonial government to consolidate the rule, and expounds the progress of policy adjustments and limitations on this stage. Part four discusses the implementation and the adjustment of the colonial policies in the rise of the Indian national movement. Part five discusses the pre-independence India to choose their own path of development, as well as the British rulers to promote a series of education reforms. Part six briefly summarizes the influence of higher education in British India on the development of independent India
