But the search of empathy is more confined to the western theory of empathy all along. However, between China and the west, the theories of empathy have many differences and similarities. This is valuable for us to argue. And, it’s a long and deep historical and cultural background for the causes of the difference’s emergence. In this paper, we will talk about the western theory of empathy, the theory xing which is the represent of empathy in the ancient China, and compare the ancient culture of China and the west to find the reasons of the difference of the theories between China and the west. From this, we will achieve the comparison. Our final purpose is to understand the phenomenon and be close to the empathy itself more clearly and more accurately. And we hope this work will increase the public aesthetic taste, enrich the theory of empathy, and expand the range of its application. So it can promote Chinese traditional culture.
