Abstract : Theoccurrenceof tobaccovirusdiseases inChinainrecentyearswasdescribed. Altogether 16speciesof
tobacco viruseswerefound in China. The statistics in 2001showed that these diseaseswere serious in theYellow
River and theHuaihe River valleise andslight inthe southern andnortheastern areas. The causes of prevalence of
these tobacco virus diseaseswere discussed andthe integrated control measureswere presented. Preventivemethods
were as follows: 1) choosing resistant cultivars; 2) adopting right culturepractices; 3) disinfecting soil, fertilizers
andinstruments, andenhancing management of seedbed and field; 4) controlling aphid vector; and 5) applying
ant-ivirusagents.
