Abs tract: The theory of value chain is employed to construct the value chain of steelprocessing and distri
bution enterprises to mi prove their servicemode and competence. This paper setsup three value chain ex
tension models of integrated development, strategic alliance and virtual cooperation. The paper also discus
ses strategies for the value chain extension. Examples demonstrate that the models and the strategies mi
prove the enterprises core competitiveness and the flow of steel.
