Nantong Electric Power Company, Nantong 226006, China) Abstract: In order to locate fault section of distribut ion netw ork quickly and accurat ely, an improved differential evolution algorithm w as proposed in the paper. The method transforms a continuous space into synchronous search over discrete spaces w ith a definit ion of adjuvant search space, and w ith hybrid encoding of real type vec tor and binary vector. Wit h enhancing adaptability of parameters, the algorithm has good convergence speed and accuracy.Simulation results for single point fault and multiple faults show that the proposed algorit hm doesnt performance unst eady obviously with the init ial parameters values change, and it has accurat e and quick fault locat ion and better faulttolerance.
