However, the periods of only a few tests were greater than a year in previous studies. In this study, a creep testing machine was developed for long-term continuous use. The two long-term creep tests were conducted with tuff under water-saturated condition; the first one was for a year and nine months, and the second one have been for over thirteen years. The know-how and details of these tests were described in this paper. The results showed that the creep strain increased under such a low stress at 30% of the strength. The trends for the creep strain and strain-rate in the long-term creep tests were consistent with those for the primary creep in the short-term creep tests.
