The FPSO is a high tech apparatus among the ocean engineering vessels, it posses its unique advantage in the exploitation of marginal oil fields, early production syst em and deep sea oil fields. The FPSO is developing greatly in recent years and is becoming a major exploiting means in offshore oil and gas resources. In this paper, the existing circumstances and the distinguishing features of traditional FPSO and their extending forms are introduced and analyzed.
