One significant factor in this revolution was the Mexican government’s request to establish an agricultural research station to develop more varieties of wheat that could be used to feed the rapidly growing population of the country. Green Revolution The Green Revolution allowed food production to enable, or keep pace with worldwide population growth. The Green Revolution has had major social and ecological impacts, making it a popular topic of study among sociologists. The term “Green Revolution” was first used in 1968 by former USAID director William Gaud, who noted the spread of the new technologies. Thomas Robert Malthus The Reverend Dr. Thomas Robert Malthus (13 February 1766?– 23 December 1834), was a British scholar, influential in political economy and demography. Malthus popularized the economic theory of rent. Thomas Robert Malthus Malthus has become widely known for his analysis according to which societal improvements result in population growth. The six editions of his Principles of Population, published from 1798 to 1826, observed that sooner or later population gets checked by famine, disease, and widespread mortality.
