Shanghai Airport Construction Headquarters, Shanghai 201202, China) Abstract: A method for calculating settlement of runway subgrade induced by moving aircraft loads is proposed based on more than 6 years measured settlement data in Pudong international airport. A loga- rithm model was adopted to fit the measured settlement data before the runway was opened to air traf- fic, and the difference between dead loads induced settlement and measured settlement was viewed as the settlement induced by moving aircraft loads. he calculation results show that settlement of run- way subgrade induced by moving aircraft loads occupies 31% of the total settlement in the 5th year and the proportion will increase with time. Moving aircraft loads are proposed to be taken into considera- tion in subgrade design.
