* 八年级（下）Units 9-10 世界城市日第三部分热点素材拓展阅读理解（2015预测） Along the world’s urbanization process，city has become a worldwide major issue which has an impact on sustainable human development in the 21st century. City’s development is becoming more and more important; the function of city is getting more improved and perfect. Shanghai on Sept. 2 announced the theme of “Leading Urban Transformations and Development” for the first “World Cities Day”, its launching ceremony will be on Oct. 31. A coordination(协调) center has been set up to deal with daily issues of its celebration， forum (论坛), and exhibition, including trainings and publications. In addition, it will also join hands with United Nations Human Settlements Programme (UN-HABITAT) in combine efforts of governments, social organizations and individuals to solve challenges and problems arising in urbanization and sustainable development worldwide. The “World Cities Day” was first brought up at the closing ceremony of the Shanghai World Expo 2010 and was announced at the 68th United Nations general assembly（集会）on Dec. 28， 2013.
