Environmental Report Update Foreword 前言 The Hong Kong Polytechnic University is strongly committed to environmental protection and sustainable development. It is our mission to provide a safe and green campus, and knowledge of environmental protection for our students and staff members. To accomplish this mission, our students and staff members have actively participated in and contributed to a number of environmental activities and research projects over the past year. It is my great pleasure to present to you the Environmental Report 2009, which gives a detailed account of our environmental initiatives, achievements and improvement efforts during the year. As the University was moving towards the 3-3-4 curriculum system, serious consideration was given to green campus development and resources management. I would like to take this opportunity to thank all students, staff members and alumni, who have worked together in making PolyU a greener and more sustainable institution. I hope this Report will continue to inspire contributions from all stakeholders towards our green campus development efforts. Prof. Thomas K.S.
