Listen to a song related to the of “study, esp. language learning”. The song “Ill Be There For You” presented in PPT is the theme song of Friends, which is known as one of the best American TV series for Ss (students) learning English after class. Telling Apart
Help Ss practice the pronunciation of the phonetic sounds: /e/ /?/ /?/ /?/ /f/ /v/ /b/ /v/
Read the proverbs and sayings and practice the tongue twister. Play the recording and ask Ss to read aloud.
Correct their pronunciation when necessary.

Read new words, phrases and expressions.
Listening exercises: simple sentences and short conversations.
Watch a Video“language learning”, titled “The Sounds of English” to get some advice of how to improve one’s pronunciation. Explain each new word or phrase with examples which have presented in PPT.
When doing exercises, tell Ss to read the four choices in advance;pa attention to the importance of grammatical coherence.
Watch the Video and try to answer the following questions presented in PPT. (四)Opening Your Mouth
Read new words, phrases and expressions.
Reading exercises: 6 short conversations and 2 longer ones.
Act out and make conversations based on the situations given in the unit. Explain each new word or phrase with examples.
Play the recording and ask Ss to read after it.
