Unit Four Counteroffer Learning Objectives After completion of this unit, as an offeree, you should be able to: 1. Express the reason why you don’t accept an offer entirely; 2. Refuse an offer and know how to put forward your new proposals properly in writing; 3. Know the essential components of a letter of a counteroffer. Introduction In international trade, a counteroffer is a reaction made by the offeree after he/she receives an offer/a bid. It is virtually a partial rejection of an offer. It also means a proposal put forward by the offeree in the hope of concluding a transaction. It forms a new offer.
