He was a anxious boy who enjoy the musical instruments and the barnyard animals kept behind his huge house. Graduated from Cornell University with a Bachelor of Arts degree in 1921. Then became a reporter for The Seattle Times and as an advertising copywriter before joining the The New Yorker magazine in 1924. He published his first article —《A Step Forward》in The New Yorker magazine in 1925. Then he joined the staff in 1927 and continued to contribute for six decades. He married a New Yorker editor, Katharine Angell, in 1929, and later moved to North Brooklin, Maine. He remained a New Yorker staff member and continued his work for the magazine. Best-known Works In the late 30s, White turned to hand to childrens fiction. His first children’s book, Stuart Little, was published in 1945, and Charlotte’s Web appeared in 1952. The Trumpet of Swan was published in 1970.
