Unit 7Conventional Technology of Air Pollution Control The principal technologies of air pollution control Characteristics of small cyclones : The multitube cyclones are capable of efficiencies exceeding 90%. The cost is higher and their pressure drops is usually 3 to 5 inches of water. They are also more susceptible to plugging （堵塞）and erosion. Fabric filters Consists Fabric filter systems, i.e., baghouse, usually consist of tubular （管状的）bags made of woven （织物） synthetic fabric or fiberglass（玻璃纤维）. Basically, the unit consists of compartments containing rows of filter bags or tubes. Operation parameters The amount of filter area required is often based on an air-to-cloth ratio of 11.5 to 3.0 cfm (cubic feet per minute) of gas /ft2 of cloth. The maximum operating temperature for a baghouse is 550F (Fahreheit) using fiberglass bag. However, there may also be a minimum temperature limitation so as to maintain the gas temperature 50 F to 75F above the dew point (露点）. Inlet dust loading range from 0.1 to 10.0 grains/ft3 of gas. Higher concentrations in some industries are removed by a precleaning device, such as a low efficiency cyclone. Baghouse Applications: gas cleaning by filtration （过滤）is suited for applications where dry particulates are handled or where water in the process gases is in the vapor stage.
