Before speaking about the specific new features in 10.6, let’s discuss all of the business processes that Matrix PLM helps manage. This graphic represents a typical product development process leading up to the hand-off to manufacturing. There are 3 primary phases of activities that must be managed: (1) Define the product concept through identifying and managing customer needs, determining which product capabilities will fulfill those needs, and then analyzing various combinations of these capabilities to define the specific products to bring to market. (3) Determine how to best leverage the supply chain during product development by managing the direct material sourcing process and ensuring that chosen suppliers meet all deliverables to demonstrate conformance to the overall development process. Throughout these three phases, the overall development process must also comply with the latest regulatory processes whether it is mandates from the FDA or the various material composition statutes that exist, particularly in the European Union.
