The Million Pound Bank Note: Reading
Unit 3 Module 3 1.整体设计思路、指导依据说明 According to the National English Curriculum, English teaching aims at developing students’ language competence, language knowledge, emotion attitude, learning strategy and cultural awareness. Based on these aims, this lesson is divided into 5 parts: warming up,pre-reading, while- reading , post- reading and homework.
2.教学背景分析 教学内容分析:This unit is about drama, the first play that students will learn in high school. This reading passage is the most important part in this unit, because only after
students learn it, Act 1, Scene 3, can they understand the passage in Using Language part.
At last students will have a knowledge of drama and the play “The Million Pound Bank Note”.
学生情况分析:The target students are high school students, most of whom come from the countryside. They are not familiar with drama and have difficulty in understanding the features of drama.
3.教学目标分析 Knowledge aim: get the main idea of the play
Ability aims: 1.guess the meaning of new words according to the context 2. have a general knowledge of English play
Emotion aim: be aware of the features of English play.
4.教学重点、难点分析 教学重点:Based on the teaching objectives and learner analysis, the teaching important points are:
1. help students develop their reading ability
2. help students learn about English playwriting
教学难点: how to help students understand the most important point of drama— conflict of drama in such a short play.
5.教学过程设计
步骤1: Warming up
1.With the chart on page17 ,students will know something about Mark Twain, like his real name, meaning of his pen name, birth date, birthplace and so on.
2.Tell students the play in this unit is based on Mark Twain’s work “The Million Pound Bank Note”, and then introduce some background knowledge of drama.
