I want to make sure that you tell the students about the contradiction inherent in the term “empowerment.” It’s a term that is sometimes used to describe something that a therapist does to a client (I know this is not what you are thinking about), which suggests that the female client lacks the resources or ability to be assertive, to take control of her self or family, or to otherwise engage with her environment in the way that the therapist feels she should – without the therapist’s help. * * * * * *
