During the period, the Group’s turnover was HK$475,098,000, representing a 81.0% increase over that of last year. Profit for the period was HK$ 101,386,000, 91.4% higher than in the same period last year. Profit attributable to shareholders was HK$89,918,000, up 106.9%. Earnings per share increased from HK1.79 cents of the same period last year to HK3.08 cents, a jump of 72.1%. During the period under review, China Gas’ city gas pipeline network, including branch and customer pipeline network, extended around 640 km and reached accumulatively around 7,958 km. The Group completed natural gas connections for 62,417 residential users and 146 industrial and commercial users, bringing the total connected residential households and industrial and commercial users to 1,058,348 and 7,468 respectively. During the reporting period, income from connection fee was HK$156,582,000, representing a 19.1% growth compared with last year’s.
