Trends in U.S. and World Lobster Production, Imports and Exports Souleymane Diaby Forest Fishery Products Division October 2004 Summary World lobster production increased steadily from 157,000 metric tons in 1980 to more than 233,000 metric tons in 1997, before stabilizing at 227,000 metric tons in 2001. Wild lobster is by far the main source of total production, but aquaculture, although minimal, is growing.
