SB1 Unit 18 Reading New Zealand 来宾一中 潘瑞兰 Teaching Materials: SB1 unit 18 reading part New Zealand Analysis of teaching materials: The teaching goals of this unit are to learn the geography, history and culture of English-speaking country—New Zealand, and this period is the most important part in this unit. It gives a vivid description of New Zealand’ location, climate, natural beauty and history. Thus, it paves a way for further understanding of New Zealand’ culture and social activities in the part of integrating skills. Teaching background knowledge: New Zealand is an island country in the south Pacific Ocean, it is an English-speaking country. Teaching design: At the beginning of the class, there are many pictures about New Zealand to attract the attention of the students as warming-up. The next step is pre-reading. Pre-reading is a question used to practice oral speaking. While-reading is done with simple question, followed with listening. Then it is a reading process with exercises in detail. The last step is homework. Teaching goals By the end of this class, Make students be able to read description article and know to use descriptive words Students can learn the geography, history, culture and economy of New Zealand. Cultivate students’ culture sense, and improve culture exchange between English-speaking countries.
