The plan for National Day holiday Dynasties in Chinese history National Day The National Day of the Peoples Republic of China is celebrated every year on October 1. It is a public holiday in the Peoples Republic of China to celebrate their national day. The PRC was founded on October 1, 1949 with a ceremony at Tiananmen Square. The Central Peoples Government passed the Resolution on the National Day of the Peoples Republic of China on December 2, 1949 and declared that October 1 is the National Day. The National Day marks the start of one of the two Golden Weeks in the PRC. The National Day is celebrated throughout mainland China, Hong Kong, and Macau with a variety of government-organised festivities, including fireworks and concerts. Public places, such as Tiananmen Square in Beijing, are decorated in a festive theme. Portraits of revered leaders, such as Mao Zedong, are publicly displayed. Sichuan Sichuan (Chinese: 四川; pinyin: About this sound Sìchuān, known formerly in the West by its postal map spellings of Szechwan or Szechuan) is a province of the Peoples Republic of China, located in the southwest of the country. The capital is Chengdu, a key economic centre of Western China. Sichuan is hometown of panda. History Ba-Shu Kingdom Throughout its prehistory and early history, the region and its vicinity in the Yangtze River region was the cradle of unique local civilizations which can be dated back to at least the 15th century B.C.E and coinciding with the later years of the Shang Dynasty and Zhou Dynasty in north China. Sichuan was referred to in ancient Chinese sources as Ba-Shu (巴蜀) by combining the names two independent states within the Sichuan Basin — the kingdoms of Ba and Shu. Ba included todays Chongqing (which until recently was part of Sichuan) and the land in eastern Sichuan along the Yangtze and some tributary streams, while Shu included todays Chengdu, its surrounding plain and adjacent territories in western Sichuan.
