* * * * * Welcome to the Level 200 Sales Training for the Rosemount 2120 and 2110 Vibrating Fork Liquid Level Switches. My name is John Stewart, I am the Product Manager for the Mobrey equivalent of the 2120 and 2110, known as the Mobrey Squing 2 and MiniSquing. Together with Anna Olander at Saab Rosemount and the Rosemount and Emerson level teams, we have been working to develop the best possible range of vibrating fork switches ready for the marketplace. * This slide gives an overview of the Rosemount 2100 series switches now available. The range is split into two products, the 2120, and the 2110. The Rosemount 2120 is essentially the full featured product with the complete range of process connections and safety approvals to meet a wide variety of processes and applications. The limited range, OEM version of 2120 is the 2110. The 2110 maintains all of the important features of the 2120 in a compact and low cost package. Target customers for the 2110 include the Food and Beverage industry. * Right, so how does it work? Vibrating fork technology uses the principal of tuning fork vibration. When a tuning fork is struck, it vibrates. This vibration occurs at what is known as the forks’ ‘natural frequency’. This frequency will vary depending on the relative size, shape, and material of the forks. In the 2100, the forks are driven to their natural frequency of oscillation by a piezo-electric crystal mounted behind a diaphragm to which the forks are connected. A Piezo-electric material is one whos dimensions change when a voltage is applied across it. This is also true in reverse, i.e. when a force is applied to a piezo-electric material, a voltage is induced. Sufficient AC voltage is applied across the piezo-electric crystal of the 2100 to cause the forks to vibrate at their natural (or resonant) frequency when in air. When the forks are then covered with a liquid, they become damped and the frequency of vibration changes. This change is detected by the integral e
