There are two laby’s on the high speed assembly: One is the oil seal on the high speed shaft and the second is the laby for the balancing piston which is vented to the inlet of the first stage impeller reducing the axial load on the shaft. * This copper line connects the notched area behind the balancing piston laby to the first stage impeller inlet reducing the axial load on the thrust bearings. * There are two laby’s on the low speed shaft: (1) in the transmission and (1) on the end cover. The transmission laby is a two piece design as used with a 19XR and the motor end cover is a solid laby that slips over the shaft. * The low speed gear is a single helical design using two keys and a retaining plate with bolt to secure it to the shaft. It will require heat applied to the gear of approximately 220 deg f to insert on the shaft due to interference fit. * The demister assembly traps oil droplets that is carried from the oil sump in the refrigerant vapor returning to the suction housing as the pressure equalizes between the oil sump and the first stage impeller inlet. * The inlet guide vane assembly is a carryover from the open drive externally geared 17EX Chillers of the same capacity which are pened/closed from an externally driven shaft by an actuator. * This compressor size uses a cable type vane assembly design as we used with our XR/EX/FA units. * We will use the EX type aero components that have been redesigned for improved efficiency. * There are two laby’s shown on this slide. They are refrigerant seals for the inlet of each impeller stage. * The balancing piston is a ring on rear of the second stage impeller that has the inner diameter vented to the suction housing. This reduces the surface area of the pressure differential forcing the assembly towards the inlet resulting in a reduction of the axial or thrust load. * The stator is refrigerant cooled design offered for medium or high voltage. The stator will have (3) sensors to monitor the temperature in
