Develop the skills of taking notes briefly, legibly and consistently. Approaching the Topic Exercises 1-2 (pp. 40-42) Conclusion: When you have classes, attend a lecture, read a book, even when you watch TV programs/films of English language, you may take notes. You may take notes in the form of a diagram or in the form of a list. Ready to Write 1. Learning Focus Note-taking is an important skill and a good habit in effective learning. Notes may help you: sort your understanding; record the main idea and important information for your future reference; memorize when reviewing (for example: before examination); accumulate the information and make it part of your knowledge; Method of note-taking: As a learner, you may take notes in class, in going to lectures, and in reading. You can use the form of a diagram or a list, you can also develop your own symbols. There are various ways of listing and numbering. Develop your way of note-taking and stick to it. Note-taking in class: Write down the teachers’ main idea and key points and your partners main ideas in discussion. Note-taking in lectures: Record the title, the name of the lecturer, the subject, the time, the place and the main parts of the lecture. Note-taking in reading: you may list the outline; write down the main idea, some new words, important sentences, as well as your comments. Write legibly. Notes are useless if you cannot read them later. Reconstitute and review
