It has been adapted in the light of experience of actual compliance measurements. Note 1 Values of the LA90,10min noise statistic should be measured at the affected property using a sound level meter of at least IEC 651 Type 1 quality. This should be fitted with a ? diameter microphone and calibrated in accordance with the procedure specified in BS 4142: 1990. The microphone should be mounted on a tripod at 1.2 - 1.5 m above ground level, fitted with a two layer windshield wind shield or suitable equivalent, and placed in the vicinity of, and external to, the property. The intention is that, as far as possible, the measurements should be made in “free-field” conditions.
