单 元:Unit 1 Laughter is good for you

Thoughts on the design:
本节课是一节围绕单元主题内容的导入课,通过观看视频和学习书上的图画引出各种可以给人们带来笑声的形式,引导学生讨论生活中什么能让我们开怀一笑。然后通过汉语的小品视频和英语的幽默笑话让学生感受到中英幽默的差异,从而介绍什么是英式幽默,并让学生掌握如何理解英式幽默,为本单元接下来的学习打好基础。
Teaching aims:
After learning this part, the students will be able to
1. have a good understanding of “laughter is good for us”;
2. learn some art forms which can make us laugh;
3. learn something about British sense of humor and learn to understand it;
4. master two proverbs about laughter.
Teaching procedures:
Step 1: Lead-in
1. Show Ss a vedio about laughter, and introduce the topic of laughter.
2. Brainstorming
1) How can laughter benefit us?
Laughter can:
help us forget about worries
help us relax ourselves
keep us in a good mood/cheer us up
have positive attitudes to our lives
enjoy life better and live longer.
2) What can make you laugh?
Jokes, comedies, funny movies, humous stories厖
3. Enjoy esome more pictures and have a hearty laugh.
What can make you laugh?
Watching interesting and amusing programmers.
Reading interesting books.
Seeing funny things.
Hearing a joke.
Step 2: Sharing Information
Today, I will give you a chance to laugh heartily.
There are four posters on our book. All of them are quite funny. Before we enjoy them, let’s bear the following questions in mind:
Do the four posters share something in common? If so, what are they?
Which of the events do you think will be the funniest? Why?
Why do people like funny things?
Picture 1
Look at his look/ expression, is he funning?
What is he doing there?
Picture 2
What does the poster tell us?
Look at critics’ comments about the book, will these remarks attract you?
Picture 3
1. Show Ss a picture of Niu Qun and Feng Gong. And ask them what they are doing.
2. What is crosstalk?
A traditional form of Chinese comedy, which means rapid funny dialogue between two or more comedians.
