Optical fiber communication with its unique advantage has been heavily promoted by the people. Optical fiber communication technology used in the communication, including the design of optical fiber communication system as the top priority. Optical fiber communication system is mainly composed of optical transmitter, optical receiver and optical fiber links. Optical fiber communication system is generally divided into digital optical fiber communication system and analog optical fiber communication system. Digital optical fiber communication system is more superiority than analog optical fiber communication system. In the design problem of digital optical fiber communication system, the main problem is to determine the relay distance. This thesis is to study the influence factors of relay distance in digital optical fiber communication system, including the main research because of the influence of transmission rate, due to the dispersion and loss on the limitation of distance relay.
