Fashion in popular cultureFashion is a vital component to this global popular culture in which we live. The origins of fashion can be explored by looking back in time, with the changing trends and marketed products varying throughout each generation. Fashion and what people were wearing goes as far back as to looking at ancient times. Since then fashion has evolved throughout society, adapting to the environment in which it has been marketed.Fashion is widespread within global popular culture, but its development happens in different places around the world. Designers “trend setters” are continuously working to advance and expand fashion and its limits. A Fashion Trend, could start off in a struggling designers lounge room, the designer could then be acknowledged by a fashion label, which would then lead them to becoming a national name, and their clothes being marketed within their home country. If their clothing is popular and found out to be appealing to the fashion industry it could then lead to them being recognized globally, with offered support by an international fashion label, with their clothing and ideas given the chance to grow to a universal level.Resistance has been a major influence on fashion over the years. With the evolvement of fashion has come the more risqué clothing and accessories, constantly pushing the boundaries of what is acceptable and what isn’t. Schools, churches, banks, leading shops such as David Jones and Grace Bros for a long time have opposed the wearing of risqué fashion. This however is gradually changing of course, as the exposure of the more rare fashions often only seen on the catwalk break into society and acquires a fashion status. Business suits and formal attire are still prerequisites for attendance at certain functions. Times have changed significantly within the fashion industry (eg. jeans in the 1950s and 1960s were associated with the bad boy, the juvenile delinquent or rebellious teenager, tensions between authoriti
