This work is licensed under the Creative Commons Attribution International License (CC BY). /licenses/by/4.0/ Abstract The “Panta Rhei” scientific plan (2013-2022) proposed by IAHS is “Change in Hydrology and Society”. The non-stationary rainfall-runoff relationship and its identification methods under changing environment, spatial and temporal variation rule of hydrology parameters, distributed hydrological model based on time-dependent runoff yield and confluence, hydrological process response in a changing environment, optimal water resources allocation model based on the internet of water, and conceptual model of hy- drology and society coupling systems are reviewed, and the existing problems and limitations are pointed out. The main research contents and scientific goals of interaction between hydrology and so- ciety are proposed. It will be a great contribution to the IAHS scientific plan and lift up the academic level and international influence of Chinese hydrologiests by the successful implementation of this study.
