PAGE  PAGE 3 National Taiwan University of Science and Technology (NTUST) Doctoral Degree Examination Regulation Approved for future reference by the Ministry of Education in letter Tai (91) Chi (4) Tzedated Nov. 5th Nov. 2002 1. This regulation is outlined pursuant to “Degree Conferral Law and its Enforcement Rules” and “University Law and its Enforcement Rules”. 2. The terms of study for Doctoral students’ are between two to seven years. Doctoral students may apply for Doctoral Degree Examination after meeting the following requirements: 2.1.- The applicant has qualified as a doctoral candidate 2.2.- The applicant has studied for at least two years. However, if an applicant enrolls directly in Doctoral Degree Program, without acquiring a master’s degree first, she/he should have studied in a master’s program for a year, and studied in a doctoral program for two years before it can apply for the examination; thus, s/he should apply for the Examination after three years of study. 2.3 The applicant has completed at least 18 credits of required courses. This also applies to a doctoral student without a master’s degree. 2.4 The applicant has finished the draft of her or his dissertation. 3 A doctoral student should follow the procedures listed below: 3.1 The following documents should be submitted: 3.1.1 Doctoral Dissertation Examination Application 3.1.2 Transcripts through the whole study year 3.1.3 A copy of dissertation draft and its abstract 3.1.4 A recommendation letter from thesis advisor 3.1.5 A list of Degree Examination Committee members 3.2 After being approved by the head of department and dean of graduate institutes/colleges and verified by Academic Affairs Division, the application should be submitted to the president of NTUST for final approval. 4 A degree examination is held in compliance with the following procedures: 4.1 Organizing a Doctoral Degree Examination Committee 4.2 Holding a Doctoral Degree Examination 5 The organization o
